Advent Lecture Series by Dominican Student Brothers

The Dominican Friars of the House of Studies are sponsoring an Advent lecture series entitled “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord: Renunciation and the Pursuit of Perfection.” Join us at any one of three locations for each installment in our series of three conferences, as we prepare together to welcome Jesus Christ into our hearts, homes, and families this Christmas. Looking to the witness of St. John the Baptist, who pointed awesomely and adamantly at Jesus, the coming Kingdom, we too seek to direct our lives to following Jesus through the mysteries of his life, from the crib to the cross. During this Year of Consecrated Life, we’ll gaze especially at the poor, chaste, and obedient Christ, who counsels all his followers to follow along that same royal road.

The lectures will be held at the following locations and times:

St. Dominic’s Church, Washington, DC — Tuesdays (Dec. 2, 9, and 16) at 7:00pm

St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Charlottesville, VA — Sundays (Dec. 7, 14, and 21) at 10:30am

Dominican House of Studies, Washington DC — Sundays (Dec. 7, 14, and 21) at 7:30pm

For more information, see the promotional flyer.

DC Christmas Caroling

As a way to help spread the Good News of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ during this Year of Faith, our Student Brothers recently organized three Christmas Caroling trips around Washington, DC.  In addition to singing, the brothers also evangelized to those passing by, leaving them holy cards as a memento of this holy season.  The brothers were joined by some of the priests of the House of Studies, by Archbishop J. Augustine DiNoia, O.P., and by some of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia living in Washington. The caroling was well received, as can be seen in the pictures and videos below.
